- Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai Train Station is located 3.3 km from the Tha Phae Gate, on the Eastern side of Chiang Mai Old Town, and 2.2 km from the lively Chang Klan Road near the Night Bazaar and many of the city’s best restaurants and hotels. The Arcade bus station, which is the city’s main bus station with departure to destinations such as Pai, is located 1.5 km to the North of Chiang Mai Train Station. For most people arriving at Chiang Mai Train Station it is too far to walk to their hotel, places of interest in the city, or onward travel connections. Chiang Mai does not have a metro or ‘skytrain’ system, but it does have four types of road transport to and from it railway station: songthaew (Thailand’s famous shared taxis), tuk-tuks, yellow taxis and a public route.
To travel from Chiang Mai Train Station to Chiang Mai Airport we recommend that you take a taxi or tuk tuk from the train station.
From Chiang Mai Train Station you can either take a taxi or tuk tuk or alternatively for a cheaper journey wait on the main road in front of the station for a shared Songthaew Taxi.
We recommend that that you take a taxi or tuk tuk to travel between the bus station and the train station.
